Capricorn Food & Wine Festival

Between September 19th – 22nd the 6th annual Rockhampton Food & Wine Festival was held on the Quay street riverbank.  The aim of the festival is to showcase the absolute best gourmet food, wine and local produce throughout the Capricorn region.  Celebrity chefs such as Shane Bailey, Krystal Constable and Matt Golinski conducted cooking demonstrations to an appreciative audience. Children had a go at cooking something delicious. Saturday afternoon I attended the festival with my support worker Rob. I caught up with a friend named Chris who used to live in Bundaberg, his mother was in the Writers Club 20 years ago. As Ibrowsed the fascinating stalls, I listened to the live bands and singers. I felt hungry so I consumed a meat lovers Paella from the Paella stand and it was very tasty.  Attendance steadily increased as the afternoon went on.  Kevin from behind the bar told me he expected 1500 people for that evening.  There was reported to be over 5000 attendees during the 4 day event.  Before I left, I sampled the popular Cointreau kiss cocktail which was a tasty way to toast a great afternoon.
