My Day At The Races
One of the premier events on Rockhampton’s social calendar, the St. Peter’s Caulfield Cup Race Day was held at Callaghan Park Race Course on October 20th. Rob and I were among thousands of race day enthusiasts enjoying the annual fundraiser for the local primary school. The men were handsome in suits or long pants and button-up shirts, while the ladies looked absolutely gorgeous in a very broad range of colourful dresses and hats. Hundreds of work places, sporting clubs and community associations let down their hair and had a fantastic time enjoying one another’s company. Bookies were run off their feet taking bets from punters who were betting on races round the country as well as the local ones. A couple of winners were “Colosseum King”, “Bold Shot” and “Poetic Show” as a part of the 7 race program. As Rob and I were leaving, a woman who went to high school in Bundaberg noticed me, said hi and introduced her husband to me. After which we shared a laugh at just how small the world can be. What a wonderful day for socializing with friends, both new and old. Follow this link to check out a short video of me trackside.
