Redcliffe

Redcliffe

Each Christmas I spend two or three weeks with my mum in North Brisbane, usually we have a couple of days relaxing at Redcliffe, thirty five minutes drive from Brisbane.  We stay at one of the motels in central Rebeegeesdcliffe.  Where we scroll along the famous Redcliffe Jetty and the boardwalk, looking at the fabulous views of the ocean .

We enjoy lunch at one of fantastic cafes located along Redcliffe Parade. Sometimes my sister brings her two children down for the afternoon and we go to Settlement Cove Lagoon which is a tropical water wonderland overlooking Moreton Bay.  Mum and I keep an eye on the kids as the go for a swim in the wading pool.  This area has a playground, barbecues, picnic tables, showers and toilets. There is also a ramp into the lagoon for people with disabilities.

There’s lots which visitors can enjoy in the seaside  city, from wining and dining, galleries, live theatre, picnics, boating, swimming, cycling to skydiving, fishing, scuba diving, windsurfing and other aquatic activities – Redcliffe’s got it covered!  Fancy a round of golf ?  Well, I’ve heard The Redcliffe Golf Cclub has a picturesque 18 hole Championship Golf Course, located in the suburb of Clontarf.  They offer a full range of golf facilities and services.

Their modern clubhouse has sweeping views across the course and is an ideal location for your next function or special event.  Boasting poker machines and outdoor deck the Redcliffe Golf Club welcomes the local community and tourists to experience a round of golf or a quiet drink overlooking the course.  The Redcliffe Golf Club is available to visiting and social players.  Newcomers will find that the course presents a challenge for any calibre of golfer.  The club welcomes social players every day of the week, though limited times are available on some days.  Bookings are advised!

From the late 1960s until early 2000s The Bee Gees toured the world singing their many hits including “How Deep is Your Love,”’  “Staying Alive,” “Massachusetts” and “Words.”  The Gibb brothers, Barry, Maurice and Robin was born in England, migrated to Australia with their family when they were boys and  grew up in Redcliffe.   The local council honored the three by constructed a huge wall along an alleyway off Redcliffe Parade.  The wall contains photos and memorabilia of the band and a statute of the brothers was unveiled on February 14, 2013 by the only living Bee Gee, Barry.

Enjoy browsing markets but don’t like big crowds?  The Redcliffe Jetty Market could be for you!  Held every Sunday between 8am to 3pm next to the Redcliffe jetty.  Wide range of experiences to be sampled.  Such as funky crafts, various ethnic food, exotic imports,  jewellery, homewares, handcafts  and heaps more, and you can listen to live music.  What a way to spend a Sunday.

Hotel accommodation in central Redcliffe start from $120 per night, I advise you to conduct you own research , go on the net, ring up hotels because you could get a better deal.  I’ve stayed at Oaks Mon Kono a couple of times, It was built in 2012 and its great hotel to stay.  Spacious room for a wheelchair bound person like me.  Fantastic views of redcliffe looking out of your balcony.  A word of caution,  loud music playing on weekends from the nightclub below.

If you’re searching a holiday round Brisbane and you’re not fuss on travelling to the Gold or Sunshine coast. Consider Redcliffe!  It has all you need for a relaxing holiday.
